The team for you to join
As our Strategic Account Manager you will have the opportunity to be responsible for driving sales growth, business development and innovation projects on HMOs with Global Strategic Infant Formula Accounts (ex. Danone, Nestlé) as well as mid- size regional infant formula players. You will be reporting to the Commercial Director, and you will be part of a bigger Commercial Team. The position allows you to bring your sales execution skills, account management experience and passion for building business and partnerships with major customers in infant health space. As we are an international organization, we require great English communication skills as you will be interacting with people at all levels of the organization and colleagues around the world. As we are building a new business area, we have a “hands-on” mentality and are looking for people who are self-starters and can drive sales results.
Strategic Account Manager – HMO (m/w/d)
What would your role look like?
You will be working for the HMO Business Unit in Chr. Hansen, thus a preferred location is either Reinbreitbach/Bonn- Germany or Copenhagen – Denmark with ability to travel in Europe and internationally. Our main HMO operations are located in Reinbreitbach, close to Bonn, Germany as well as Chr. Hansen HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark. This business unit is focused on HMOs and is part of the larger Chr. Hansen “Health and Nutrition” division.
In your role, you will focus:
- On partnership development with our existing and future infant formula customers, positioning Chr. Hansen across infant market as a leading, trustworthy, flexible, and knowledgeable HMO partner.
- Build strong long term customer relationships in product innovation, supply, science collaborations and marketing with leveraging our cross functional team’s knowledge and exposure to customers.
- Drive commercial negotiations, supply agreements and multi- dimensional collaborations, go to market strategies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Across business units’ teams coordinate account activities on joint projects (incl. Probiotics, Synbiotic, other) with exposure to our wide Chr. Hansen product portfolio.
- Delivering account sales growth and sales execution activities: forecasting, budget, PO management, coordination with operations, quality on product supply teams.
- With our HMO marketing team and in collaboration with customers, develop marketing and science communication to mature customers into a long-term business partnership with Chr. Hansen.
- You will be the voice of the customer and the one responsible for managing the customers’ expectations and goals in cross-functional support.
You will further be working to:
- Mature customer plans & strategies by (sub) segments & (key) countries, including elaborating product & service strategy
- Develop pricing strategies and tactics under the frame set by Management
- Secure internal communication and alignment on strategic direction of customers
- Work closely with Commercial Development, Science and Innovation teams to ensure acceleration of HMO concepts within infant formula and wider HMOs usage
- Responsible for identifying global market trends & opportunities
- Capture market, industry and competitor information
- Participate at tradeshows
Who are we looking for?
A candidate should have a Master’s degree (or similar) in business or science, experience with ingredients industry, preferably from Infant nutrition, dietary supplement, and/or OTC market. Minimum of 5 years of sales/account management experience. Critical to the role is a strong commercial track record in driving sales growth and customers relationship building capabilities on global accounts across geographies and cultures.
Further you have:
- Experience in innovation and scienced based sales approach, activating a broader team in the sales process
- Customer trust and relationship building capabilities
- Comprehensive experience of sales processes, comfort in sales negotiations and communication with ability to positively influence customers and Chr. Hansen internal teams
Personally, you are a self-driven, energetic and structured team player. You have an affinity for working in ambitious, high-paced, dynamic environment. As our commercial team represent seven nationalities, we require excellent spoken and written English combined with clear communication skills and cultural understanding. We expect that you bring a proactive and execution personality with a can-do attitude. You have an international mindset and adaptability to work in a matrix environment. You are structured as a person with a disciplined approach, ability to coordinate teams, drive project execution with passion for creating tangible results. You are ready to travel app. 30-40 days per year.
